In response to our faith, we believe our role is to steward God’s creation mimicking His design for our Land, Plants and Animals.
As a result, our animals live outdoors and are able to express themselves naturally. Our landscape is full of a diverse mix of plants busy sequestering carbon and building top soil. As the soil structures improves on our land it is able to filter water as God designed and the plants are filtering the air we breath.
One other result of our faith being lived out in our farming practices is a positive social and economical impact on our local community. Inspired by the life and physical beauty around us we have an EKC Art Club encouraging visual and musical arts.
The EKC farm has an open door policy. We welcome visitors, customers and artist alike to see how food is produced first hand. Our goal is for farm visitors to leave with confidence in their understanding of important food issues and how to best address their needs with their purchasing power.
Relationships are an integral part of the EKC farm. A strong relationship with our customers and understanding their health needs enables us to partner together providing the highest quality food while adhering to our stewardship principles.
Relationship with the land enables us to build health in our environment. We grow only Non-GMO plants, without synthetic inputs including fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or insecticides.
By observing and caring about plant health, our relationship with our plants enables us to nurture and grow our poly cultures to bring synergy and vitality to our farming practices.
Relationship with our animals enables us to understand their individual needs for health and vitality. Our herbivores (cows, sheep) are never fed grain on the EKC farm. Our omnivores (pigs, chickens) are fed according to their design balancing their nutrient needs.
We are very concerned about our relationship with Insects on the EKC farm. Perhaps the hardest working and most overlooked part of our ecosystem, insects play a big role including pollinating, composting and maintaining a balance among “pest”. Each insect has a role to play and by maintaining a proper relationship we are able to harvest big rewards whether our amazing honey or the high quality feed to balance out our chickens diet.
We believe information should be shared. Empowering the health minded both in and out of the farming community by passing on production knowledge and best practices we build further relationships and enjoy seeing great food production spread to other farms near and far. We do this through empowering farms and families by openly sharing EKC farm principles proceeders and protocols. We also empower local community through business development and community participation on and off the farm.
We believe open sharing benefits our staff in a couple important ways. First this sharing brings accountability. Secondly, our staff is always learning and challenged to produce the best quality in the most natural way. We are also blessed to receive information form wonderful partners on this journey that spur our own thinking and encourage us to keep pressing on toward the goal.

* Our natural production practices eliminates the need for sub therapeutic (daily fed low level dose) medications that are commonly used in confinement production systems. However, in certain cases to prevent animals from death or suffering we do allow for limited use of therapeutic (spot treatment) medication. In such cases the prescribed withdrawal period is doubled before animals are ever harvested. We feel that this exception is only practical to ensure wise stewardship practices and ethical treatment of our livestock.
